Making the Future Sustainable
Katsuura Mega Solar Power Station

Representative's Message
Thank you for visiting the K Energy website.
Since our establishment in November 2012, based on our corporate philosophy of contributing to the maintenance and improvement of the irreplaceable global environment, we have been investing in solar power generation projects, promoting projects related to natural and renewable energies such as wind, geothermal, and biomass power generation, as well as conducting research and studies.
The motivation for establishing the company came from the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident. It is absolutely necessary to have a plan to reduce the number of nuclear power plants to zero, at least in the future. Needless to say, a stable supply of energy is essential for us humans to lead a rich and cultured life and to continue the industrial activities that support it. However, are we really facing and thinking seriously about this most basic issue in human life?
Looking at the current situation and plans for energy supply in Japan, we still rely heavily on fossil fuels that emit a lot of CO2, and nuclear power, which poses many problems for humanity in the medium to long term, has been set as a major pillar. It is true that nuclear power is superior in terms of reducing CO2 emissions. However, if we consider the lifecycle costs, such as the risk of future accidents and waste disposal, it is already not a viable option and we should consider minimizing it. We believe that Japan, as one of the major industrialized countries, should promote the use of renewable energy more vigorously in order to fulfill its responsibility for the sustainable development of the earth.
As you know, the Paris Agreement was formally adopted at COP21 (the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) in 2015, and the movement to combat global warming will be accelerated in the future. In the second half of this century, the population
of the entire world is expected to increase rapidly, and we must not forget that global environmental issues will become even more important. We cannot allow our future children to be left with a huge bill as a result of choosing the easy way out.
With this in mind, K Energy has built solar power plants with a total power generation capacity of 47.9MW since our establishment in 2012, and will continue to make concrete plans for the construction of power plants related to renewable energy.
K Energy will continue to move forward strongly to contribute to the development of the renewable energy business for the next 20 to 30 years.
